RSV4 is Aprilia’s flagship contribution to high performance motorcycling. Available in a US limited edition of 200 machines as the RF in tricolor livery or the ‘production’ variant, RR, both machines share aggressive lines and serious technical depth. The frame is the direct descendant of a dynasty which has won 18 titles and 143 Grand Prix in the 250 GP class. Management of the 65° V-4 cylinder engine is further enhanced by highly developed electronics to improve both engine performance and handling. Aprilia found its vocation as the first manufacturer to adopt the Ride By Wire system as standard. The electronic throttle allows smooth delivery of maximum engine while reducing fuel consumption. The RbW Ride-by-Wire system allows different power delivery settings to be selected through its multi-map technology. Aprilia is the first motorcycle manufacturer to have patented its highly developed aPRC dynamic control system with exclusive self-calibration and wheelie control features.
The engine has been updated and improved with particular attention paid to reducing internal friction and increasing casing ventilation. The exhaust system has also been remodeled to provide maximum performance. This brings the maximum power of the 65° V4 to 201hp with torque at 115 Nm (85 ft/lb). The 3 distinct mappings (Track, Sport and Road) are matched to the new power and torque specifications of the V4 to provide even fuller and in-depth power output at any engine speed.
In keeping with solid Aprilia tradition, the aluminum frame of the RSV4 R exploits the strength and flexibility of cast and pressed components welded together to form one structure setting new benchmarks in terms of balance and dynamic efficiency. Torsional and flexional rigidity have been optimised to give the rider more control. This means that the Aprilia RSV4 RF is not just a bike with devastating performance, but one that enables a rider reach their full potential. Öhlins fork, rear shock absorber and steering damper and Brembo M430 monobloc radial calipers complete the picture.
Tuono V4 Factory
Tuono V4 1100
Tuono V4 Factory 1100 ABS derives from the legendary 2002 Aprilia V-twin RSV Mille, distinguished from its ancestor by a wider, raised handlebar for all the comfort and control of an upright seating position. The patriarch of the new “supernaked” category was called the Tuono 1000 R, the first ultra-high performance naked, unbeatable on the track and loads of fun on the road. It was out of this tradition that a completely new Tuono was born in 2011, a direct descendant of the Aprilia RSV4 introduced in 2009, dominator of the World SBK. Its V4 engine was capable of 167 HP and the exceptional aPRC electronic controls package left its rivals behind in effectiveness and technology. Today’s Tuono V4 1100 develops 175 HP (88.5 ft/lb), has a new look and smartphone programmability through the PMP platform.
Engine capacity was increased to a full 1077 cc to increase mid-range torque for street riding. This increase in displacement also resulted in higher top performance. The Tuono V4 1100 is the only naked powered by a 65° V4 engine. Its narrow V architecture makes for a shorter engine favoring weight centralization and a compact chassis. The monobloc crankcase with integrated aluminum cylinder liners ensures maximum rigidity and consistent performance. The upper half of the engine case is now made with a new shell fusion and has been lightened and reinforced; An optimised ventilation system reduces power loss caused by crankcase air pressure. Pistons are new and the Pankl connecting rods are lighter by a total of 400 grams.
The Tuono V4 1100 range has received all the upgrades to the already exceptional aPRC system that was first seen on the RSV4 RR and RSV4 RF.
aPRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) is the patented control systems package provides tire circumference self-calibration features and wheelie control. The third generation of aPRC, standard equipment on the new Tuono V4 1100 units, fully integrates with the fine full Ride-by-Wire multimap electronic management of the revamped V4 engine.
ADVENTURE / TRAVEL
Caponord is Aprilia’s answer to the aspiring adventure traveler or those in need of a motorcycle that has it all: looks, power, carrying capacity and suspension that takes any terrain in its stride whether offroad in the forest or commuting in the rain. Ride-by-Wire, ABS, Traction Control, Cruise Control and Dynamic Damping adaptability and versatility make Caponord the traveling tool that it is. Ride modes match conditions and mood.
The beating heart of Caponord is a 1197cc, 125 HP 90 degree DOHC V-Twin with 4 valves per cylinder. Low speed and mid-range torque combined with power that still keeps coming at higher RPM while maintaining fuel economy tick all the boxes.
The high resistance steel tube trellis and die cast aluminum plate frame optimizes weight distribution and resilience for riding over long periods with a full load in challenging conditions. Spoked wheels retain the convenience of tubeless, multi-terrain tires.
Caponord’s technology is a silent partner making split-second decisions about road conditions, grip, rider actions and loading while speaking volumes on status and rider settings through a state-of-the-art digital instrument LCD panel showing speed, revs, total and trip odometers, fuel level, coolant temperature, ride mode (S,T,R), shock preload, engaged gear and more.
Riding position is key for long distance, multi-day riding. Leverage at the handlebar allied to an upright seating posture make Caponord’s ideal journey possible. The stock saddle allows most riders to put feet firmly on the ground when stopped; a lower saddle is available as an option.
The adventurous style of the Aprilia Caponord 1200 Rally is completed by new metallic tubular side guards and the brand new engine bellypan. New, supplementary LED lights contribute to an increase in riding safety, especially in low visibility conditions.
2016 Caponord 1200 ABS Rally stock color is dark green with gunmetal accents. Caponord 1200 ABS Travel Pack is available in red or white.
